Internal Committee (Sexual Harassment Prevention & Redressal)

NEPNI Group of Institutions is committed to providing a safe, secure, inclusive, and dignified environment for all students, faculty members, employees, interns, and visitors.

To uphold this commitment, the institution has constituted an Internal Committee (IC) in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). The Committee is responsible for preventing sexual harassment, addressing complaints promptly and fairly, and promoting a culture of mutual respect and equality.

Objectives of the Internal Committee

The Internal Committee aims to:

  • Prevent incidents of sexual harassment on campus.

  • Promote a safe and respectful learning and working environment.

  • Receive, examine, and resolve complaints in a fair and confidential manner.

  • Protect the dignity and rights of every individual.

  • Create awareness about gender sensitivity, equality, and respectful behaviour.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and institutional policies.

What Constitutes Sexual Harassment?

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome act or behaviour of a sexual nature, whether direct or indirect, including but not limited to:

  • Unwelcome physical contact or advances.

  • Requests or demands for sexual favours.

  • Sexually coloured remarks or jokes.

  • Showing or sharing inappropriate images, videos, or messages.

  • Stalking or repeated unwanted communication.

  • Verbal, non-verbal, or physical conduct creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.

  • Any other behaviour prohibited under the POSH Act, 2013.

Who Can Approach the Committee?

The Internal Committee is available to assist:

  • Students

  • Faculty Members

  • Administrative Staff

  • Non-Teaching Employees

  • Contractual Staff

  • Interns and Trainees

  • Visitors associated with the institution

Every complaint is handled with fairness, sensitivity, confidentiality, and impartiality.

Responsibilities of the Committee

The Committee is responsible for:

  • Receiving complaints related to sexual harassment.

  • Conducting confidential and impartial inquiries.

  • Recommending appropriate corrective and disciplinary action where necessary.

  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the complaint process.

  • Conducting awareness programmes and orientation sessions.

  • Promoting gender equality and respectful conduct across the campus.

Complaint Procedure

If you experience or witness sexual harassment, you may:

  1. Submit a written complaint to the Internal Committee.

  2. Provide relevant details and supporting evidence, if available.

  3. Cooperate during the inquiry process.

  4. Receive updates regarding the progress of your complaint.

  5. Obtain appropriate support and assistance throughout the process.

The institution is committed to ensuring that complaints are handled promptly, confidentially, and without fear of retaliation.

Confidentiality & Protection

NEPNI strictly maintains the confidentiality of all complaints and inquiry proceedings.

The institution does not tolerate:

  • Victimisation

  • Retaliation

  • Intimidation

  • Discrimination against any complainant or witness

Every individual has the right to study and work in an environment free from harassment, fear, and discrimination.
